A High Priest represents the people to God (Hebrew 5:1), A Prophet represents God to the people. We as believers have a sinless, magnificent, Sanctified high priest Jesus Christ who was divinely appointed by God Himself (Hebrews 5:5).
So goes the high priest, so goes the people. For only the high priest, could enter the holy of holies to offer a sacrifice of blood for himself and the people, and this was done once a year this was called “the Day of Atonement” (Hebrews 9:7).
If the high priest was considered unblemished, then so would the people. Infact there were ornamental bells fastened to the high priest so they could hear the movement from the “inner room” (Exodus 28:33), because if he was considered unclean this meant death, and the people could not enter the inner room because they would succumb to the same fate. In the account of the “Talmud” ancient rabbis attested the high priest wore a rope tied to his waist so he could be pulled from the inner room if he did infact succumb to God’s judgment.
Beloved we must not be weary nor fret, our high priest is Jesus Christ who is the heavenly high priest, perfect and without blemish (1 Peter 1:19).
We don’t have to spend time assessing ourselves, Be assured in your spirit that ” As He is so are we in this world”(1 John 4:17). All that Jesus possesses we too posses. When we find Jesus, we find ourselves indeed!
Socrates said ” Know thyself “, But Jesus says ” He who finds Me finds his life” ( Proverbs 8:35).
