These I will bring to my holy mountain
and give them joy in my house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
will be accepted on my altar;
for my house will be called
a house of prayer for all nations.”
The house of God is indeed the house of prayer, There is something deeper that lies at the core of this text. We as God’s beloved Sons and Daughters tend to look outside of our beings for “The house of prayer” but did you perceive that you ARE this house.
If we study the text it tells us in 1 Corinthians.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIV)
” Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
We ourselves are this house of prayer we are the church, the body of Christ, the temple of God where His very Spirit resides.
1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)
” Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
In the days of old the people did not occupy grand scale buildings or the mega churches of modern day era. They met wherever they could. They set up tents or tabernacles and it was there they gathered to receive a word from God. Jesus Christ even taught on mountainous terrain and by the sea. The house of God (the believers) gathered at the feet of the living stone and received.
At the feet of Jesus Christ, engulfed in His living Word is where the spiritual material needed to become a divine edifice is apprehended, grasped, obtained to become the “House of God” the “House of Prayer”
1 Peter 2:4-5 (NIV)
The Living Stone and a Chosen People
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood,offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
