Matthew 13:44~ ” Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and his; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys the field.
This is a very powerful text a gripping text.I want to bring your attention to this man who is an ordinary man, a man who is just like us. What is interesting to me is the fact that this man found a hidden treasure, but in order to find something it seems fit to say , he must have been searching.
It was in light of him searching ,seeking, longing for something worth beholding. He realized that if he did not look, he most certainly was not going to obtain what he was looking for. Question are you seeking the kingdom?
This man who signifies you and I, upon him seeking, knocking, searching was awarded with something infinitely better, than he could ever imagine or conceive. You see when he began to search, God showed up ( Ephesians 1:4 ) ” He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world”. This is from where the desire flowed from, it was God who put a seeking spirit in his mind.( John 6:44 ) ” No one can come to Me ( Jesus ) unless the Father draws him”.
So as a blood bought believer we know from this text that it is the Father who is calling us, in fact Jesus says it is impossible to come unless God Himself in all His infinite wisdom beckons us to the kingdom, What a wonderful revelation!! You should have a endless joy in your spirit in that truth alone.
Now this man did something really radical , the text says: ” for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys the feild”. I believe this man had a revelation, he realized he had found what he had been seeking. Think of the magnitude of this treasure, the feeling of content in his spirit to sell “all” he had for this field. The text says he did it with ” joy “. Are you serious about your walk with Jesus? Are you willing to ” joyfully divest in yourself and invest in the kingdom of God?
Beloved do not be like the young man in ( Luke 18:22 )who was unwilling to sell his possessions and give to the poor, and pick up his cross and follow Jesus. I urge you to ” enter through the narrow gate “( Matthew 7:13 ).
Prayer: Lord Jesus help us to realize the magnitude of this treasure, the sure and perfect kingdom. Help us to realize that we ourselves are treasured by YOU and the Father alike, and may we seek you out with a contrite heart and do it with a divine joy. Thank you Jesus and I pray in Jesus name amen and amen.
